My frequent experience is that women over 50 wear old-fashioned hairstyles, styling and make-up. They would like to appear more modern and youthful… the problem is that they need the help of an expert, because in the course of their lives, fashion has changed so many times that they have not had time to follow it in their everyday worries.
And another problem is that many hairdressers and stylists take it to mean that the client is already older and there is not much that can be done, or they will do what she is used to again.
I adore older clients and I know that very little is often enough. Just a slightly different way to blow out a hairstyle that has been worn all its life and immediately looks fresh.
In the case of mature women, one thing is very tricky. It is very important to find the line where a woman will be chic in proportion to her age. It’s not about taking 40 years off her. A 60-year-old lady just doesn’t need to look 25. And she can’t do that by throwing on a bold red sheer and cutting out the ornaments.
It is important not to overdo it and create a modern, youthful and dignified look. Old age is beautiful and has its own charm. It is not always important to look younger, but to look simply beautiful.
I recommend:
• calmly acknowledge the gray hairs and learn to apply fresh and simple make-up to them
• unify the shade – blonde top and black undertones are no longer in fashion
• don’t be afraid of shorter hair
• style your hair according to the latest trends (for example, be inspired by TV presenters and actresses of your age).
Many of these changes were made 6 years ago. I am proud of myself that I managed to find hairstyles that are timeless and could easily be worn even today.
